Sixth grade students created these Silhouette and Symbol Self-Portrait. In art, a symbol is usually a recognizable thing (an animal, a plant, an object, a logo, a word…) that stands for something else. Within these silhouettes students created at least six symbols to represent themselves. They learned about composition (how objects are aranged within the picture plane) and they created interesting compositions by using repition and a variety of sizes of their symbols.
